The Committee on Legal Policy recommends to adopt in general the draft law on the procedure of election to the positions of members of the High Council of Justice and the activities of the disciplinary inspectors

During the meeting, the Committee on Legal Policy, MPs considered the draft law No. 5068 on Amendments to certain laws of Ukraine on the procedure of election (appointment) to the positions of members of the High Council of Justice and the activities of the disciplinary inspectors of the High Council of Justice.
The purpose of the proposed changes is to improve the procedure for electing (appointing) members of the High Council of Justice for the practical implementation of the rule of law, ensuring compliance of candidates for the position of a member of the High Council of Justice with criteria of professional ethics and integrity, increasing institutional capacity, judicial authorities in particular and the judiciary in general.
Chairperson of the Sub-Committee on justice Pavlo Pavlish said that several meetings of the Sub-Committee had been held to discuss amendments to the second reading with the participation of stakeholders, including the High Council of Justice.
During the meeting, the Committee members discussed issues related to the ethics council, the work of disciplinary inspectors, etc.
Based on the results of the consideration, the Committee recommends to the Verkhovna Rada to adopt the draft law No. 5068 on Amendments to certain laws of Ukraine on the procedure of election (appointment) to the positions of members of the High Council of Justice and the activities of the disciplinary inspectors of the High Council of Justice in the second reading and in general in the wording proposed by the Committee.
