Ukraine and Georgia, which face similar challenges today, will have a common European and Euro-Atlantic future. This was stated by Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov during the meeting with President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili.
"Ukrainian and Georgian peoples have a lot in common. These are the war, the occupied parts of our territories, the common struggle for territorial integrity, the defense of independence and the democratic principles to which our peoples aspire. And also, I am sure, a common European and Euro-Atlantic future, which we must win together for Ukraine and Georgia," he said
Dmytro Razumkov stressed that the course for European and Euro-Atlantic integration was chosen by Ukrainian society and enshrined in the Constitution.
He stressed that Ukraine and Georgia have many common values that the Verkhovna Rada will continue to uphold in order to implement the course of comprehensive development, as well as the realization of the European dream.
The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada noted the strengthening of cooperation between the parliaments of the two states. "I hope that soon, when COVID-19 begins to retreat, we will return to the usual and traditional practice of our friendship groups work, which it was before. Because online communication cannot replace the human relationships that are built between colleagues. Therefore, I hope that it will happen as soon as possible," said Dmytro Razumkov.
He expressed gratitude for Georgia's support to Ukraine during all the years of war in eastern Ukraine and the occupation of Crimea. According to the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada, Kyiv feels the help and support of partners on various international platforms, in particular in the PACE, OSCE, NATO PA.
