Cooperation with European partners is one of the priorities in the activities of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management. This was stated by Chairperson of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management Oleh Bondarenko during the working meeting with Head of Section Economic Cooperation, Energy, Infrastructure and Environment at Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Chloe Allio, Head of the European Green Deal at Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Gregory Tsouris and other officials of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine.
The participants of the meeting got acquainted with the state of dialogue between Ukraine and the EU in the framework of the European Green Course and the process of adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to EU law, in accordance with the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
In particular, Oleh Bondarenko stressed that the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management supports and shares European values and almost all legislative initiatives currently under consideration in the Committee related to the implementation of obligations under the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
The Chairman of the Committee informed about the participation in the meetings on the basis of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources on the implementation of the "Mechanisms for implementing the National Emission Reduction Plan for large combustion plants and compliance with Directive 2010/75/EU".
In turn, Chloe Allio spoke about the meeting of the Working Group in Brussels, which was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishina and expressed her hopes that the Committee would participate in the work of this group on environmental issues in Ukraine.
Chloe Allio noted that European partners are ready to provide support to the Government of Ukraine in building management of environmental protection processes, in particular the creation of the Climate Fund.
The Chairperson of the Committee and officials of the EU Delegation to Ukraine discussed a number of draft laws that are being considered by the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management.
In particular, the importance of adopting European integration bills "On prevention, reduction and control of pollution resulting from industrial activities" (No. 4167) and "On state environmental control" (No. 3091) was emphasized, without the adoption of which environmental reforms are impossible.
Among the topics raised during the meeting were also issues of forest protection and biodiversity conservation. In particular, was discussed the draft law "On the territory of the Emerald Network" (No. 4461), which aims to preserve natural habitats and species of fauna and flora.
Oleh Bondarenko thanked the European partners for the meeting and expressed hope for continued cooperation.
