The meeting was devoted to the common for Ukraine, Bulgaria and other Slavic countries holiday - Day of Slavic writing and culture, which is celebrated annually on May 24 on the day of the saints of Equistol Cyril and Methodius - the authors of the Slavic alphabet, which played an outstanding role in the development and formation of Slavic writings, literature and culture.
During the meeting, other issues were considered, in particular, members of the Friendship Group focused on the need for additional measures aimed at activating tourism between Ukraine and the Republic of Bulgaria.
As of today, the Republic of Bulgaria is one of the few countries in the world that is open and welcomes Ukrainian tourists. Ukrainian citizens are on the list of the most numerous tourists visiting Bulgaria.
The deputy group decided to appeal to the Prime Ministers of Ukraine and the Republic of Bulgaria with a proposal to find an opportunity to expand transport connections between the two countries, including through an increase in scheduled and charter flights. In addition, the appeal will discuss further liberalization of border crossing rules for citizens of both countries with mandatory observance of security rules during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also at the meeting, members of the deputy group decided to appeal to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on the need for his personal control over the pre-trial investigation of intentional damage to the memorial complex "Khan Kubrat" in Poltava region.
Systematic meetings of the parliamentary group of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Inter-Parliamentary relations with the Republic of Bulgaria testify to the invariably friendly relations between the two countries and aimed at deepening them.
