Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the OSCE PA Mykyta Poturayev met with Director of OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Matteo Mecacci.
During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed issues related to the development of democratic institutions in the OSCE region, Ukraine's cooperation with the ODIHR, improvement of Ukraine's election legislation and administration of the election process, security situation in eastern Ukraine and Crimea, in particular, the militarization of the peninsula, as well as human rights violations in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol and the temporary occupation administration.
Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the OSCE PA Mykyta Poturayev stressed that Ukraine fully supports the mandate of the ODIHR as an autonomous institution of the OSCE, created to assist member states in fulfilling their obligations in the human dimension, the OSCE and the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation will continue to take an active part in election observation missions as an important area of OSCE action in the field of democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
