The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is grateful to the governments and parliaments of all countries, which have taken a firm, effective and consistent position in support of Ukraine's territorial integrity and independence and helped Ukraine withstand another escalation in the East.

At the same time, it is necessary to address the issue of the readiness of the civil defense system to the conditions of a potential military emergency. This was emphasized by Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk during the Conciliation Council of Deputy Factions and Groups.

"Our resilience, the resilience of our army, the rapid reaction of the international community and the fierce pressure on Moscow, which differed from the confusion and 'deep concern' of 2014, have averted the threat of a large-scale invasion. This means that European countries and NATO have learned the difficult lessons of hybrid Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine and the occupation of Crimea," said the Vice-Speaker.

According to her, from every such cynical rattling of weapons that we have seen from Russia, Ukrainian society must draw certain conclusions and become even stronger. Therefore, it is necessary to hear the mayors and community leaders on the state of civil defense at the next meeting of the Advisory Council on Local Self-Government.

"We have to hear firsthand what the real situation is with civil defense and reserves on the ground, what are the problems. What should be done by the Parliament and the Government, together with local self-governments in order to guarantee reliable protection of the population in the conditions of a potential military emergency," Olena Kondratyuk suggested.
