The Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and International Relations recommends the adoption the draft Resolution "On the Annual Report of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the State of Observance and Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms in Ukraine for 2020"

The Committee on Human Rights, Deoccupation and Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories in Donetsk, Luhansk Regions and Autonomous Republic of Crimea, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations met by videoconference.

During the meeting, members of the Committee considered the draft Resolution on urgent measures to stop the practice of politically motivated persecution of citizens of Ukraine. The purpose of the draft Resolution is a legal assessment of the practice of spreading politically motivated persecution of citizens of Ukraine and providing recommendations to public authorities to take measures to stop it and prevent its further spread in the country. Following the discussion, the members of the Committee decided not to include the draft Resolution in the agenda of the fifth session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The MPs considered the draft Law on Prevention and Counteraction to Anti-Semitism in Ukraine No. 5109. The bill defines anti-Semitism, indicates its main manifestations, and prohibits anti-Semitism and its manifestations. The draft law also establishes types of liability for violations of anti-Semitism legislation. The participants of the sitting decided to recommend including the bill in the agenda of the fifth session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Also at the meeting, the members of the Committee considered the issues of the annual report of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights on the state of observance and protection of human rights and freedoms in Ukraine and adopted the following decisions:

- to recommend to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to include in the agenda of the fifth session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine the hearing of the annual report of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights "The State of Observance and Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms in Ukraine for 2020";

- to recommend to adopt the draft Resolution "On the Annual Report of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the State of Observance and Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms in Ukraine for 2020" in general.
