The Committee on Education, Science and Innovation considered the issue on improving the mechanisms of forming the network of lyceums

At a meeting of the Committee on Education, Science and Innovation, MPs considered the issue of improving the mechanisms for forming the network of lyceums for the introduction of quality secondary education.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science Vira Rohova and representative of the department Volodymyr Bozhynskyi informed about the state of preparation of the draft Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 4629-1 "On approval of the Regulations on the lyceum" in the context of consideration of the bill on amendments to certain laws of Ukraine on improvement of mechanisms of formation of the network of lyceums for introduction of high-quality profile secondary education.

According to the draft Resolution, "the lyceum is an institution of general secondary education that provides a specialized secondary education of academic orientation and in accordance with the decision of its founder can provide basic secondary education." The regulation stipulates that enrollment of students in state, municipal and corporate lyceums will take place on a competitive basis.

Following the discussion, the members of the Committee decided to take note of the information of the Ministry.

The members of the Committee also decided to amend the work plan of the Committee for the period of the fifth session, adding to it the bills registered by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine recently.
