The Committee on Youth and Sports finalized before the second reading the draft Law of Ukraine on Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Patronage in Sports No. 3498, taking into account the comments and suggestions of the subjects of the right of legislative initiative.
Based on the results of preparation of the bill for the second reading, the relevant amendments made by the members of the Committee on Youth and Sports are proposed, in particular:
- to extend the Law to the entire field of physical culture and sports, not just sports;
- to clarify the areas of patronage, adding to such areas preparation for participation in the Olympic, Paralympic and Deaflympic Games, the Global Games of athletes with intellectual disabilities, the World Games in non-Olympic sports;
- to determine that the beneficiary should be only a resident of Ukraine;
- to bring in line with the Law of Ukraine “On Physical Culture and Sports” the definition of ‘recipient of patronage’.
In addition, the relevant amendment clarified the final provisions to enable the Cabinet of Ministers to bring its regulations in line with this Law within one month from the date of publication of this Law.
