On February 24, 2021, the members of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation headed by the Chairperson of the Committee O. Merezhko met with the members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania headed by the Chairperson of the Committee J. Pavilionis by video conference.
The participants of the meeting discussed topical issues of world politics and regional security, post-election events in Georgia, issues of strengthening bilateral political dialogue, deepening cooperation in Ukraine's integration into the EU and NATO, further development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania, in particular the possibility of organizing joint events within the framework of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the development of cooperation in the field of energy and environmental security, as well as further integration of Ukraine into European energy systems.
Among other things, the members of the two committees agreed on the possibility of approving a joint statement of the committees on the Day of Countering the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
