“The government must immediately launch a broad public awareness campaign on immunization against COVID-19,” Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk

The issue of mass vaccination against coronavirus remains the most relevant for all developed countries, as it is associated with the solution of economic and, in some cases, political crises.

This was emphasized by the Deputy Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk during the sitting of the Conciliation Council of Deputy Factions and Groups.

“Finally, the Government of Ukraine announced an approximate start date for vaccination and discussed an immunization plan. However, the experience of countries that successfully carry out vaccination shows that the most important thing is to organize a fast, efficient and fair distribution of the vaccine among citizens,” she said. According to the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, the terms for which vaccination is carried out cannot be stretched in time.

“Stretching the vaccination process for years will have no effect on overcoming COVID-19. And the mass rejection of voluntary vaccination can nullify all efforts to develop collective immunity,” Olena Kondratiuk remarked.

According to her, one of the challenges to which the Government must respond immediately is the distrust of citizens in vaccination.

“Therefore, an extensive public awareness campaign on COVID-19 immunization must be launched immediately. Every Ukrainian should receive clear instructions on where and when he or she will be able to receive free vaccinations. We will not go anywhere from the need to introduce immunization passports, which in other countries become additional incentives for voluntary vaccination,” noted Olena Kondratiuk.

In order to explain the vaccination plan from COVID-19, at the suggestion of the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk, it was decided to hear the Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov during the Hour of Questions to the Government.
