The draft law is aimed at improving the legal framework for ensuring that the intelligence agencies of Ukraine conduct intelligence activities, which are carried out on the basis of a court decision.
The draft law “On Amending the Law of Ukraine ‘On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges’ in Connection with the Adoption of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Intelligence’” specifies that a Law can establish exceptions when a court hearing a case is obliged to provide for the holding of a meeting in video conference mode. Also, it establishes that, for the purpose of implementing the Law ‘On Intelligence’, the president of a court of appeals will act as an authorized judge and transfer such powers to other judges.
The bill increased support for intelligence measures based on a court decision; implementation of the specifics of consideration by a court of petitions for permission to carry out intelligence measures.
