In 2020, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the IX convocation held 88 plenary sessions, MPs voted 4,154 times.
This year, 1,028 bills were considered, of which 249 laws were adopted, 95 - in the first or second reading, 90 - were taken into account and sent for revision. Another 594 bills were rejected and withdrawn by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
This year were adopted the Law of Ukraine “On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2021”, laws on prevention of the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and social support of insured persons and business entities for the period of restrictive anti-epidemic measures, on state support of investment projects with significant investments, culture, tourism and creative industries, on increasing the effectiveness of parliamentary control, on the special order of local self-government in some districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and others. A number of laws on finance, tax and customs policy, national security and defense, anti-corruption policy, decentralization, health care, social protection, education have also been considered and adopted.
In terms of the subjects of the legislative initiative, 65 bills were considered, among which were submitted by the President of Ukraine, 158 – by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, 805 – by MPs. Of the 65 bills introduced by the President of Ukraine, 47 laws were adopted, 8 bills were adopted in the first reading, 6 draft laws were taken into account and sent for revision, another 4 bills were rejected and withdrawn from consideration.
The Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation considered 158 draft laws submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers, of which 36 laws were adopted, 13 were adopted in the first reading, 7 draft laws were taken into account and sent for revision, 102 drafts were rejected and withdrawn from consideration.
As a result of consideration of 805 bills submitted by MPs, 166 laws were adopted, 74 bills were adopted in the first reading, 77 were taken into account and sent for revision, 488 bills were rejected and withdrawn from consideration.
In 2020, the committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine held 735 sittings.
