The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the Agreement on Political Cooperation, Free Trade and Strategic Partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, concluded on October 8, 2020 in London, which will enter into force on the following date: when the Association Agreement between Ukraine, of the one part, and the European Union, the European Atomic Energy Community and their Member States, of the other part, ceases to apply to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and when the last of the notifications sent by the Parties will be received on the completion of its domestic procedures.
The agreement establishes the goals of strategic political dialogue and cooperation in the field of foreign and security policy, which correspond to the current priorities of Ukraine's foreign policy, as well as the principles of cooperation in the field of justice, freedom and security.
The agreement aims to ensure the national interests of Ukraine and form a qualitatively new legal basis for relations between Ukraine and the United Kingdom, consolidating the desire of the two states to strengthen and expand friendship and cooperation and establish a strategic partnership.
The Bill was registered in No. 0083.
The Verkhovna Rada also adopted bills in general:
- No. 0054 “On Ukraine's accession to the Extended Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS)”;
- No. 0057 “On Ratification of the Protocol between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on amending the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on International Road Transport”;
- No. 0069 “On Ratification of the Protocol between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on Amendments to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the exchange and mutual protection of information with limited access in the field of defense”;
- No. 0073 “On Ratification of the Protocol Amending the Convention between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Austria on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and on capital.”
