The draft Law is aimed at ensuring the independence of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting, as well as unlocking the work of the regulator, taking into account the quarantine conditions.
The draft Law contains proposals on:
- regulation of the procedure for submitting candidates for the member position of the National Council;
- formation of a tender commission to discuss the proposed candidates for the position of member (members) of the National Council and submission to the President of Ukraine;
- establishment of the list of requirements and restrictions to the candidacy for the position of a member of the National Council and to public associations and creative unions, which may be the subjects of submission of such candidacies;
- determination of the grounds for early termination of the powers of a member of the National Council;
- improving the remuneration of members of the National Council and staff;
- settlement of some issues of the National Council's activity during quarantine and other restrictive measures;
- establishing a mechanism to ensure that meetings are held without the participation of the relevant licensees, provided that the licensee has been duly notified of the time and place of the meeting.
