The law introduces the functioning of a modern health-related rehabilitation system – providing quality rehabilitation care directly in health care facilities from the very beginning of the illness or injury.
The law defines the legal, organizational and economic principles for the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities in the field of health care.
The law harmonizes the terminological apparatus of rehabilitation in the field of health care with the terminology used by the World Health Organization, European and world professional bodies of specialists in the main rehabilitation professions.
The law determines the principles of rehabilitation of citizens of Ukraine, defines the rehabilitation system and its components, in particular, the subjects of rehabilitation, which are persons in need of rehabilitation, as well as their legal representatives; rehabilitation specialists; multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams; rehabilitation institutions, departments, divisions; public associations of persons with disabilities and rehabilitation specialists; bodies of the professional rehabilitation specialists’ self-government; entities that provide personnel and scientific support of the rehabilitation system.
