“By the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence, we plan to develop an updated branding of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” -- Olena Kondratiuk, Vice Speaker

On July 31, there took place the third sitting of the VRU brand-strategy task force.  During the meeting, Ukrainian MPs, representatives of the VRU Secretariat and creative agencies discussed their visions over the parliament’s brand and the task force’s groundwork.

The Deputy Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk emphasized the importance of balance between state symbols and UA Parliament branding.

Mykola Shevchuk, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Secretariat), reminded about the experience in developing the British and European Parliaments’ brands, with the focus on traditions and representative democracy.

MP Volodymyr Viatrovych underscored that well discussed and thrashed out there should be the ideological component of the new brand as the parliament building of 1939 does not deliver the right message of a democratic brand, but the image of the Soviet past.

As a result of the meeting, there will be held in August-September 2020 a series of focus groups among the VRU Secretariat’s staff, MPs, target audiences aiming to reshape the ideological component of the parliament's brand - with the support of the EU-UNDP Parliamentary Reform Project.
