The wrap-up briefing of the Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Assembly of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland, Olena Kondratiuk
The vice speaker noted that the long-awaited sitting of the Parliamentary Assembly of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland has finally taken place today.
"At the assembly, we have had ample deliberations on cooperation and coordination between Ukraine and the Republic of Poland on how to find ways to solve problems and ways to cooperate against the ongoing pandemic," she clarified.
The Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that Poland is Ukraine’s strategic partner on its path to the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance and thanked the Polish representatives for their strong support of Ukraine's accession to the NATO Enhanced Opportunities Programme.
Olena Kondratiuk said that the Parliamentary Assembly called on the governments of Ukraine, Poland and other countries concerned to implement joint projects in the field of security, infrastructure, education, cross-border cooperation and development of border infrastructure for the sake of good neighbourly relations.
There were discussed numerous humanitarian issues as well as debated some complex problems of a common past of the two countries on the basis of respect and historical truth to the factual background, and later on – the further development of cooperation in the field of education.
The vice speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also expressed confidence that a face-to-face meeting of Ukrainian and Polish parliamentarians would finally take place in October in Poland.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Ukraine Bartosz Cichotski took part in the briefing, too. Olena Kondratiuk and Bartosz Cichotski fielded questions from reporters.
The Ukraine-Poland Inter-Parliamentary Assembly has become the platform to pool and concert efforts aimed to effectively address the most pressing issues of the interstate cooperation.
