“Support of the OSCE PA in peacebuilding in the Donbas is of the essence for Ukraine,” – Dmytro Razumkov

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov met with the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly George Tsereteli.  In the course of the meeting, there was stressed the importance of the VRU-OSCE PA cooperation.

Dmytro Razumkov noted that Ukraine and the OSCE member states face great challenges in ending the war, in particular, in providing ceasefire arrangements along the contact line.

On behalf of the Ukrainian parliament, he then thanked the OSCE PA for the continued support of Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The speaker also emphasized that a round-the-clock work of the OSCE SMM is a factor of high significance in stabilizing the situation in the Donbas. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada reminded that the main clauses of the said agreements are ceasefire, separation of forces in three more points and "all-for-all" exchange of hostages.

He also informed George Tsereteli of the rapid legislative reaction of the parliament towards implementing the Normandy format arrangements.

Another important step to be made by the parliament should be adoption of an election law, which would cover the entire territory of Ukraine, without exceptions, as well as the return of the occupied territories under control of Ukraine.

Dmytro Razumkov also emphasized the consolidated position of the parliament, the government and the president's office regarding ending hostilities in the Donbas and establishing order there.

In his turn, George Tsereteli commended the results of Ukrainian authorities’ concerted efforts in establishing peace in the Donbas, effective communication between all the authorities, and assured Ukrainian parliamentarians of the all-round support by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

“Your optimism is of high importance for us,” the OSCE PA President highlighted in conclusion.
