The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has established the Temporary Special Commission on Legal Status of War Veterans
340 parliamentarians voted in favour of the resolution No.2153 at the plenary session.
Pursuant to the second part of Article 89 of the Constitution of Ukraine, Article 85 of the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Parliament of Ukraine has decided to establish the Verkhovna Rada Temporary Special Commission on Legal Status of War Veterans.
The commission is delegated to undertake as follows:
- analyze law enforcement practices pertaining to the legal status of military veterans, including their social protection;
- submit appropriate conclusions and recommendations for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine;
- analyze the compliance of executive by-laws with respect to the legal status of war veterans with the laws of Ukraine, including the timeliness of their adoption;
- submit to consideration by the Verkhovna Rada (and/or some of its designated committees) proposals on the build-up of legislation relative to the legal status of military veterans.
The paper has also determined that the commission bench be made of a round dozen parliamentarians. The namelist is as follows:
