President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi congratulated the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation on taking up the powers and getting started

During the first plenary sitting of the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi delivered a special presidential address to the new Verkhovna Rada. At the beginning of his speech, the Head of State congratulated Ukrainian parliamentarians on taking up their powers and getting started.

“Dear Fellow Ukrainians! 100 days of my presidential term have recently passed.  There were many different estimates, but believe me - the most critical assessment I make by myself. This period can be called a quiet drive at twilight, with the headlights off at a minor speed,” the Head of State explained.

He then expressed confidence that nowadays the country is at last able to step on a speedy development footing and confidently move through the path of changes.

Speaking to parliamentarians, the President emphasized that the level of confidence to the new parliament is enormous, and therefore the level of responsibility and expectations is even greater.

The parliamentarians have faced an array of challenges and tasks, including introduction of sovereignty of the people, a long-awaited removal of parliamentary immunity, the law on impeachment, as well as an effective law enforcement and judicial reform.

The next one is the continuation of decentralization and European integration reforms.  Also, it is liberalization of the economy, as well as creation of a powerful investment magnet to attract foreign investments.

Among the priority tasks of the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation, there were called building a digital state in a smartphone, as well as suppressing raiding practices, monopolies and smuggling, gaining a real energy independence, energy efficiency and solving tariffs problems, building up industry, agrarian sector, infrastructure, medicine, education and revival of science in Ukraine.

Among the most important objective are also strengthening national security and defence, ending the war in the Donbas and returning the Crimea annexed by the Russian Federation".

“Labelled ‘a one-year parliament’, you all may enter as such Ukraine’s annals of history for keeps. In fact, it's yours, it's our probationary period".

"Believe me I already know that dissolving the Verkhovna Rada is not so frightening.  But I have high hopes that this will not happen," Volodymyr Zelenskyi stated and then added: "Let's do it together!  Many thanks! Glory to Ukraine!"
