Legal policy comm recommends Rada to remove immunity

The Committee on Legal Policy recommends that the Verkhovna Rada adopt the draft bill No.7203 "On removal of the parliamentary privilege from Ukrainian parliamentarians" in tote. The corresponding decision was made today at a meeting of the committee.

This bill removes two paragraphs of Article 80 of the Constitution of Ukraine, which stipulate the immunity of members of parliament.

The new wording of this constitutional article runs that Ukrainian parliamentarians bear no legal liability for voting results or public utterances in the parliament and its bodies, except for responsibility for insult (affront) or defamation.
