The Committee on Legal Policy considered a number of bills drafted to amend the Constitution of Ukraine.

During the meeting of the Conciliation Commission (Board), the head of the committee informed that at its today’s meeting the body reviewed eight bills providing for amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine, namely:

·        Bill No.7203 "On removal of the parliamentary privilege from Ukrainian parliamentarians". The draft law was recommended to be enacted in tote;

·        Bill No.1013 "On amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine (regarding the abolition of advocacy monopoly)";

·        Bill No.1014 “On amendments to Article 106 of the Constitution of Ukraine (pertaining to investing the President of Ukraine with powers to establish independent regulatory agencies, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, to appoint and dismiss directors of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the State Bureau of Investigations”;

·        Bill No.1015 “On amendments to Article 93 of the Constitution of Ukraine (regarding vesting the people with legislative initiative)”;

·        Bill No.1016 “On amendments to Articles 85 and 101 of the Constitution of Ukraine (regarding commissioners of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine)”;

·        Bill No.1017 “On amendments to Articles 76 and 77 of the Constitution of Ukraine (regarding the retrenchment of a constitutional staff complement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and establishment of the proportional electoral system)”;

·        Bill No. 1027 “On amendments to Article 81 of the Constitution of Ukraine (regarding supplementary grounds for early termination of powers of a Ukrainian parliamentarian)”;

·        Bill No.1028 “On amendments to Article 85 of the Constitution of Ukraine (regarding consultative, advisory and other subsidiary bodies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine)”.

The committee recommended that all of the above listed papers be included in the agenda of the second plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada and be then submitted to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine for further checking against their constitutionality.
