The programme of the visit provides for meetings with the Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Viktoras Pranckietis, deputies of the Seimas - members of the informal parliamentary support group “Pro Ukraine”.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada will also attend the Third President Valdas Adamkus International Conference.
Worthy of note
Valdas Adamkus served as the President of the Republic of Lithuania from 1998 to 2003
and again from 2004 to 2009. During his years in exile, spent in the USA, he
served as a regional administrator of the fifth region of the United States
Environmental Protection Agency and was actively engaged in the fight for the
cause of freedom of Lithuania from occupation by the Soviet Union.
The President Valdas Adamkus Annual Conference is the most prestigious
strategic annual event held in Vilnius, Lithuania. It is annually organized in
August to commemorate the Black Ribbon Day as the European Day of Remembrance.
The event brings together political figures, journalists and political analysts
from across Europe and the USA to debate on topics of importance not only to
Eastern Europe, but also to the entire transatlantic community.

The third high-level international President
Valdas Adamkus Annual Conference is to be held in Vilnius on 22-23
August 2019. Convened in August 2017, the first Valdas Adamkus Conference
discussed the need for regional leadership. In 2018, in turn, the Conference
focused on Russia’s European future and the strategic transatlantic agenda
aimed at restoring our resilience. Notably, the hallmark of the Baltic region is
its will and leadership in the efforts streamlined to defend the common transatlantic
values of democracy and freedom.
With this in mind, this year, on 22-23 August 2019, proposed are debates on partnership for transatlantic energy cooperation as well as discussing the need for a new, more effective, and strategy-driven Eastern policy.
