The Ukrainian military only needed a day to liberate Krasnohorivka from the Russian occupation. It happened on August 1, 2014.
Heading for Donetsk, the forces of the anti-terrorist operation were heavily taking control over Donetsk’s suburbs. The liberation mission on Krasnohorivka was entrusted by the chief command to the Dnipropetrovsk 20th area defence battalion, reinforced by crack anti-terrorist commandos from the 3rd regiment, volunteers of the Donbas and Right Sector battalions, as well as several units of heavy armament and armored vehicles.
Two assault groups went round Krasnohorivka from the north and entered the town from the rear. The attack of the Ukrainian troops was quite a surprise for the hostile militants. The enemy's defenсe collapsed almost immediately and the city was liberated.
Today, we pay honour to the courageous liberators and brave civilians - true patriots of Ukraine, our compatriots. Together we will build a new European state, defend the values of freedom and dignity, enjoying the opportunity to be masters of our independent country.
