The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Chairman Andriy Parubiy congratulates Marinka’s townsfolk on the fifth anniversary of liberation of their town from the Russian occupation
Dear friends!
Today, we reminisce the developments that occurred 5 years ago when the Ukrainian military began to methodically take control over Donetsk’s suburbs, thus creating bridgeheads for further attacks.
In the morning of August 4, the Azov and Shakhtarsk battalions were ordered to dislodge the enemy off the town of Marinka. Volunteers were supported by armored vehicles of the 51st Mechanized Brigade. Not with the maiden attempt, they none the less managed to finally take up the central positions of terrorists.
After that, the Ukrainian fighters began a clean-up operation of Marinka in the eastern and western directions. The anti-terrorist operation forces accomplished the task and brought peace and legitimate Ukrainian authority back to the town.
We bow now low to all the residents of the town for their steadfastness and belief in our victory! The courage and tenacity of those who contributed to the restoration of constitutional order, who suffered losses and overcame their psychic pain, are worthy of high-sounding words of recognition and gratitude.
I am sure that by joint efforts we shall surmount all the obstacles, we shall worthily go the way to an un-parted and sovereign Ukraine in blossom! As we do pay a very high price for this - the lives of our best sons and daughters. Let us be worthy of their deeds and thoughts!
I sincerely wish you happiness and peace, health, all hopes coming true, well-being and harmony - for you and your families as well.
