The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy opened the morning plenary session.

Today’s agenda

The list of issues to be considered at the plenary meetings on June 7:

1.     ‘Ask the Government’ hour.

2.     MPs’ interpellations.

3.     Second reading of the draft Electoral Code of Ukraine (bill No.3112-1).

 

A.Parubiy notified the chamber that Yurii Mushketyk, the Hero of Ukraine, one of the classical authors of modern Ukrainian literature, died yesterday at the age of 90. MPs honoured the memory of Yurii Mushketyk with a moment of silence.

The presiding officer then informed that the members of the Cabinet of Ministers, headed by the First Vice-Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv, were taking part in the meeting.

A statement pushed by two parliamentary factions was delivered by Oleg Liashko.

The questions hour began.

The presiding officer gave the floor to the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Minister of Regional Development, Building and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko, who then delivered his report on reforms in production sector, transport industry, energy economy, housing and public utility sector, implementation of energy efficiency programs.

Afterwards, the ministers answered the questions from the floor on gas prices, fin backing of energy efficiency programs, NAK Naftogaz’s activities, road repair, probable malpractices in cabinet ad placement, aiding response to the natural calamities in Western Ukraine, funding the mining industry, triggering a special session of VRU on placement of solar power plants (stations), use of credit funds in the medical industry, pay rise for pre-school educationists, reformation of art education, functioning of rural post offices, killing of illegal gambling dens, and supplying power to Kyiv-based military units.

In his closing speech, the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv thanked the Verkhovna Rada for the fruitful cooperation and, in particular, for the recently passed laws “On the decision of the Association Council between Ukraine and the EU on amendments and additions to energy Annex XXVII to the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU" and "On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine on military standards".

The questions hour ended at this point.

The 10th Session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was said to be starting today with the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Senate of the Republic of Poland in combination, having - “Security. Development. Democracy. United We Strong” - as its motto.

The First Deputy Chairperson Iryna Herashchenko read out MPs’ interpellations. Parliamentarians made their statements, announcements, and proposals.

 

The presiding officer closed the morning sitting.

The next week shall be dedicated to in-committee work.

The parliament meets again on June 18.
