At the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, there took place a signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) and the Administration of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

The MoU was signed by the Head of EUAM Kestutis Lancinskas and the Acting Head of the Administration of the Verkhovna Rada Petro Bodnar.

"It is the next step forward in our cooperation. With our joint efforts, there has already been developed the second memorandum of understanding, which provides for strategic cooperation in the civil security sector and bringing Ukrainian legislation closer to European standards," said Petro Bodnar.

On behalf of the Parliament’s administration he thanked the mission representatives for their expert and professional assistance to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

In his turn, Kestutis Lancinskas noticed that this interaction is very fruitful, and the MoU signing brings it to even a higher level. "Signing of this memorandum is the official registration of our relations. The mission was created to assist Ukraine in these issues. These efforts have resulted - this year alone - in fifteen joint legislative initiatives. I hope it will also be an additional incentive to take the cooperation up to a higher level," said the Head of the European Union Advisory Mission Kestutis Lancinskas in conclusion.

Apart from pundit’s aid rendered upon request, EUAM and the Verkhovna Rada can offer cross-participation in their internal structures like parliamentary committees and political fractions alongside the involvement of international partners such as the NATO Liaison Office and the Council of Europe. It makes the MoU signed not only a bilateral, but a multilateral cooperation agreement, bringing together different corporate cultures and competences aimed to support the Verkhovna Rada’s reforming Ukraine.
