The Committee on Foreign Affairs held on the 5th of November a roundtable discussion on “International engagements of Ukraine: State of play in investigating and justicing over the Honhadze, Podolskyi and Yeliashkevych cases”

Triggered by the committee head Hanna Hopko, the forum focused on observance of the human rights in Ukraine and implementation of decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).

In her speech, Hanna Hopko emphasized the importance of meeting the human rights obligations, the inadmissibility of attacks on journalists and civil activists, the co-operation with the Council of Europe in the context of human rights protection reforms and implementing the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights by Ukraine.

It was stated, the Ukrainian authorities should provide an updated action plan by end-March, 2019.

In attendance, there was a wide circle of members of parliament, public figures, lawyers, former General prosecutors, deputy heads of the National Police and the Ministry of Justice as well as the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine Marten Ehnberg, Representative of the Secretary General in charge of the co-ordination of the co-operation programmes in Ukraine.
