Dear fellow countrymen,
This day marks the 100th anniversary of the November Action - one of the brightest events of the Ukrainian statehood in the twentieth century. The uprising that took place in Lviv on November 1, 1918, restored historical justice: the Ukrainians of Galicia took power into their own hands.
The Lviv City Hall proudly saw a blue-yellow flag on high, and the West-Ukrainian People's Republic emerged on the European map. The millennial statehood tradition, the ideals of the liberation struggle and the national consciousness of the Ukrainian nation were revived with revitalized vigor.
Since then, November 1 has for good and all become a symbol of the undying desire of Ukrainians for freedom and independence, an inexterminable longing to have their own state.
These feelings of the faithful sons of Mother-Ukraine called on to the sacred struggle, the unforgettable milestones of which were the creation of the UNR, the Act Zluky - Act of Union - of Ukrainian lands in 1919, the heroic page of the Carpathian Ukraine, the Act of restoration of the Ukrainian state on June 30, 1941, the feat of the OUN-UPA knights, and, finally - the proclamation of Ukraine as an independent state on August 24, 1991.
Our history is teeming with struggle, triumphant victories and bitter defeats, laved with the blood of heroic ancestors. When Ukrainians demonstrated determination and unity, they did win.
And today, in the east of our country, the flower and conscience of the Ukrainian nation, its pride and glory - the Ukrainian army defends the borders of our free country from the Russian aggressor tooth and nail, laying down their young lives.
Let us be worthy of their feat!
Let the memory of the events of the November Action give us strength to be courageous, strong and invincible in the struggle for our native land, for its happy and dignified future.
Glory to Ukraine!
Eternal glory to the Heroes!
