The annual United Nations Security Council (UNSC) open debate on Women, Peace and Security takes place on 25 October 2018 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The debate will focus on "Promoting the Implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda and Sustaining Peace through Women's Political and Economic Empowerment".
The Secretary-General will open the debate with a statement, followed by briefers Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, and Randa Siniora Atallah, Director of the Women's Center for Legal Aid and Counseling, who is speaking on behalf of civil society.
