Valerii Patskan met on Friday with the Speaker of the
Parliament of Albania in Tirana.
Ukraine and Albania should develop bilateral relations at the state, governmental and inter-departmental levels. This was stated by Valerii Patskan, the Chairman of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine, at a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Albania Gramoz Ruci during his working visit to the Republic of Albania.
Valerii Patskan emphasized that the deeper relations would allow it to use more opportunities of both countries in cooperation over a number of spheres far more effectively. In particular, the Chairman noted that the Ukraine-Albania trade and economic potential does not correspond to the sizeable potential of both the countries. "And we have to change this situation," said the Accounting Chamber Chairman Valerii Patskan.
He also reminded that in June in Kyiv there had been
signed the cooperation agreement between Ukraine’s Accounting Chamber and the
State Supreme Audit of the Republic of Albania.
Valerii Patskan expressed confidence that the said agreement would
enable the highest auditing bodies of Ukraine and Albania to significantly
expand their cooperation.
The Accounting Chamber Chairman also expressed gratitude to Albania for its principled and steadfast position regarding the territorial integrity of Ukraine. "Ukraine is experiencing a very difficult period at the moment. And we thank Albania for supporting our actions in defending Ukraine’s independence and sovereignty," said Valerii Patskan.
In turn, the Albanian Speaker Gramoz Ruci emphasized
that the Chairman’s visit is very important for development of bilateral cooperation.
He recalled that Ukraine and Albania signed a visa-free regime through
significant efforts of both sides. However, he added, Ukraine and Albania
should finally launch their diplomatic missions on reciprocal basis. In
addition, Gramoz Ruci underscored our countries have a common strategic goal -
membership in the European Union, and therefore it is extremely important to
support each other on this pathway. He
also added that Ukraine is known to be interested in NATO membership, and
therefore Albania is ready to share its expertise on this issue.
Valerii Patskan assured that he would inform the Ukrainian leadership about Albania’s proposals aimed at intensifying the aforementioned cooperation.
The meeting was also attended by other members of the Accounting Chamber and the head of the International Cooperation Development Department.
