Members of the Ukrainian Parliament held a meeting with Francis R.Fannon, the Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Energy Recourses (ENR) at the U.S. Department of State

On July 23, Hanna Hopko, the head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, alongside other line ‘energy’ parliamentarians met Francis R.Fannon, the Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Energy Recourses (ENR) at the U.S. Department of State during his first visit to Ukraine.

During the meeting, Ukraine’s energy achievements, in particular, the gas market, the electricity market and the single energy regulator laws were discussed at length.

In the course of the sitting, the parties exchanged their views on a wide range of issues related to investing in Ukraine that require a wider liberalization throughout the Ukrainian market and a broader reduction of risks for investors.

Particular heed was given to the security situation in the east of Ukraine and in the occupied Crimea, and towards the need to combine efforts aimed at preventing the Nord Stream 2 project from being implemented.

The American side assured that the United States unequivocally supported the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
