Two bodies are today in focus of our committee scan:
Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe
By taking the laws amendment bill No.6749, the committee recommends the Parliament to take it on the first reading a bill on putting a ban on a solid felling (continuous deforestation) of spruce-beech forests. Through adoption of the bill it is contemplated to improve measures for the protection of spruce-beech forests on the mountain slopes of the Carpathian region against continuous disafforestments with both entrepreneurial and recreational purposes. In addition, the bill aims to prohibit such cuttings in national parks and nature reserves.
Committee on Agrarian Policy and Land Relations
In its repeated first reading, the committee recommends the Parliament to adopt the draft bill No.5448 on basic requirements for organic production, circulation and labeling of organic products.
The draft law has been finalized and supplemented by some new provisions:
- detailed rules for organic production of aquaculture and livestock farming,
- production and labeling of organic products,
- peculiarities of importing and exporting organic products into (and out) the customs territory of Ukraine,
- introduction of a two-level system for monitoring organic production through the control over the activities of not only the market operators, but also over the bodies of certification,
- legal norms regarding responsibility of the operators and certification bodies.
