Three committees are today in focus:
Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations
…calls on the Cabinet to harmonize the government regulation over social payments to internally displaced persons (IDS) with the current Ukrainian legislation. The bone of contention is the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of June 8, 2016 No.365 “Some questions of implementation of social payments to internally displaced persons”, having left out of the payments 410,000 pensioners with the IDS status. The committee debates concluded with an appeal to the Prime Minister of Ukraine to take immediate measures for resolution of the problem.
Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy
…conducted a two-day field inspection visit to Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts in order to examine progress in enforcing of the last year's committee’s recommendations by the local civil and military administrations.
Pokrovsk, Avdiivka, Maiorsk, Kramatorsk new abuilding broadcasting facilities were thoroughly checked as well as coordination of interaction between press-centres and civil ATO newsmen, military print media financing etc. The inspection showed lots of problems needful to be solved as soon as possible. The committee heard propositions of the local officials aimed to facilitate the above problems under assistance of the central authorities. A summary of the proposals will be submitted at the nearest committee sitting for consideration.
Committee on Culture and Spirituality
…held a roundtable “Contractual labour in culture sector: Legislative problems implied by competitive selection and appointment procedure for cultural establishments managing staff”. The sitting was attended by the core ministerial representatives, members of the Parliament, regional administration and culture leadership, public organizations. The whole range of legislative difficulties and the practices related was discussed. The debates have resulted in a new set of recommendations to the Committee for further improving of the relevant draft bill.
