‘Bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ought to gain a greater stimulus,’ underlined Iryna Herashchenko, the First Deputy Chairperson, at the meeting with the parliamentary delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The First Vice Speaker made the point upon the increased inter-parliamentary ties and commended the Saudi Arabian delegates for a sound international support and showing solidarity as to Ukraine’s territorial integrity, in particular.

The President’s envoy drew attention that the human rights throughout the Crimea had permanently been violating by Russia. She encouraged Saudi Arabia representatives to apply all available instruments to relieve the plight of Crimean Tatars.

The parties also talked over obtaining by Ukraine an observer status at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to render a tighter protection for the rights of Ukrainian Muslims.  

The parties discussed the Ukrainian-Arab cooperation in aviation industry, trade, construction, medicine, education, science and tourism. It was noted, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is seen by Ukraine as the major partner within the Gulf-Middle East region.

The head of the Arabic delegation assured Ukraine in their further support, having added, the Kingdom did condemn Russia’s seizure of the Crimea.

A crucial importance of the tourism industry development was also stressed at the meeting. In that regard, the simplified visa regime for the Kingdom’s citizens granted by Ukraine was noted and complimented.
