Legislation Institute of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine hosts training workshop for executives entitled Internet and Human Rights

The event was organized within the framework of a joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe entitled Media Freedom in Ukraine in cooperation with the Legislation Institute of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Over three days a total of 35 executives / participants in the seminar were informed about the problems in management of the Internet from the point of view of protection of rights.

The participants in the seminar considered problems of protection of intellectual property in the Internet, cyber security, big data, etc. Particular attention is paid to the role and application of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, fundamentals of the European telecommunication policy, discussion of the ICANN activity, Internet Management Forum and implementation of the Tunisian Program.

Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine Мarten Ehnberg noted that human rights must be protected both online and offline.
