Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs, Hanna Hopko, Committee Deputy Chair Borys Tarasiuk, and Chair of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Volodymyr Ariyev have met with members of the permanent delegation of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Denmark to the PACE.
The parties discussed current cooperation between the two delegations within the Assembly.
Particular attention was paid to the necessity to look for existing ways to restore sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within the internationally recognized borders.
The parties noted that to restore sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the PACE has to further create preconditions making the Russian Federation abide by its statutory obligations and liabilities arising from its participation in the PACE, numerous resolutions of the Assembly approved after the annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and after launch of the military aggression against Ukraine in Donbas.
In view of this the Danish parliamentarians noted that the Assembly is committed to support Ukraine and emphasized that Russia can restore its authorities within the PACE only after return of Crimea and full implementation of the Minsk agreement.
Danish parliamentarians expressed interest in large-scale implementation of reforms in Ukraine, in particular, decentralization and local self-government, as well as in judicial and constitutional reforms. Besides, the parties discussed the development of political parties in Ukraine in compliance with the European standards.
The guests of the meeting also called necessary the retention of personal and sectoral sanctions against the Russian Federation for its aggression against Ukraine.
The members of the Danish delegation expressed readiness to provide Ukrainian Parliament with required support in successful implementation of internal reforms to facilitate speediest integration of Ukraine with the European Union.
