Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations Hryhorii Nemyria has noted that one of the requirements of the European Union to provide Ukraine with the macro-financial assistance is to observe the rights of the internally displaced persons infringed by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on a regular basis.
He noted that in compliance with the results of the poll conducted by the International Republican Institute with the assistance of the Government of Canada, 78% of Ukrainian citizens consider that the economic status of their families has worsened over the last year. Hryhorii Nemyria said the Government does not protect the rights and freedoms of the internally displaced persons.
He called it unacceptable and reminded that one of the requirements to the provision of the macro-financial assistance by the EU is to observe the rights of the internally displaced persons.
The Chairperson of the Committee also added that in compliance with the poll, the first six major problems from the point of view of the Ukrainian citizens are: social problems, price hikes, unemployment, poor social protection, hryvnia exchange rate downfall and corruption among high-ranking officials.
Hryhorii Nemyria also drew attention to the fact that USD 23 million of humanitarian aid from the United States for the citizens of Ukraine will be distributed not through the governmental structures, but through international non-government organizations. "The reason is weak capacity building, incompetence and corruption in power," he said.
