Iryna Heraschenko thanked the Council of Europe for its assistance in Ukraine's domestic reforms.
Mr. Brillat assured that the Council of Europe was ready to further assist Ukraine in the ongoing reforms and implementation of newly adopted legislative acts.
The Parties discussed the constitutional reform in the field of justice and upcoming tasks of the Parliament to bring the adopted amendments in line with the Constitution of Ukraine. Iryna Heraschenko informed Mr. Brillat about the course of the fight against corruption and first steps in the establishment of new anticorruption structures.
The Parties also discussed the situation in Donbas and implementation of the Minsk accords.
The Ukrainian politician also informed about the status of payment of social assistance to internally displaced persons.
In turn, people's deputy Iryna Lutsenko informed about the process of decentralization in Ukraine.
Mr. Brillat noted that the support and assistance provided within the framework of the Action Plan of the Council of Europe for Ukraine for 2015-2017 facilitate the implementation of the constitutional, decentralization and judicial reforms, as well as effective protection of human rights in Ukraine. He said the Council of Europe closely monitors the situation in Donbas.
Besides, the Parties discussed the annual human rights report by Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland. The representatives of the Ukrainian Parliament noted they could not consider the report comprehensive and objective as it does not contain a word about the occupied Crimea and Donbas.
