The Parties discussed the infringement of rights of internally displaced persons and citizens living in the antiterrorist operation zone and on temporarily occupied territories; problems in elaboration of the regulatory-legal framework and implementation of the Action Plan for fulfillment of the National strategy on human rights and cooperation between the Ukrainian authorities and institutions of the Council of Europe.
Hryhorii Nemyria congratulated Мarten Ehnberg on the start of a new stage in his career in view of his appointment as the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine, having noted that the organization is one of the major partners in protection of rights and freedoms of internally displaced persons in Ukraine.
In particular, the Chairperson of the Committee said: "Ukraine occupies the fourth position after Yemen, Syria and Iraq in terms of the number of internally displaced persons as a result of conflicts, which is shocking."
Мarten Ehnberg assured that the Council of Europe would further assist Ukraine on the way to democracy and the European values.
