The event was organized and hosted with the assistance of the DiXi Group and the National Secretariat of the EITI with support from GIZ and the Vidrodzhennia International Fund.

First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety Oleksandr Dombrovskyi noted the importance of transparency in the extractive industries, as the transparency and objectiveness will give a chance to understand the prime cost, tax burden and the need in resources for further development and investments.

It was also noted that the EITI is an independent standard voluntarily supported at the international level to ensure transparency in 48 countries.

The goal of the discussion was the familiarization with the introduction of the EITI and approaches to transparency in the EU countries, in particular, Germany; as well as the harmonization of the legislative base for implementation of the EITI standard in the oil and gas and mining industries.

Besides, the participants in the roundtable had a chance to get to know about the draft law No. 4840 "On disclosure of information in extractive industries." According to the participants in the event, the adoption of the said regulatory-legal act would ensure access of the society to objective information about payments provided by the extraction companies; greater transparency in work of the companies and state bodies that receive the payments; creation of conditions for effective use and management of mineral resources.
