MP Serhii Rybalka said this at the opening of the All-Ukrainian Scientific Practical Forum "Strategy of development of Ukraine's banking system," which started in Kyiv.
Serhii Rybalka, as the initiator of the strategy elaboration, has forecast: "Without really efficient reforms in the economic and financial, and banking spheres, Ukraine should expect for worsening of the situation."
He said that for the last 25 years Ukraine has the worst indicators in the world: the domestic economy has contracted by about 45%, while the world economy has grown about 2.5 times.
As was reported, on April 18 the Committee on Financial Policy and Banking presented a draft Banking System Development Strategy for 2016-2020 for public discussion and finalization. The initial draft was prepared by a working group composed of experts in the field of monetary, foreign exchange and banking regulation, and banking business, and representatives of public and scientific organizations.
The draft envisages overcoming the current crisis, creating conditions for stability of the hryvnia rate and the banking system, increasing the confidence in the regulator, as well as building a system of incentives for the stimulation of economic growth.
Among the priorities for the next four years is a change of monetary policy towards the stimulation of economic growth, transformation of state-owned banks into the tools of economic development, change of the structure of the economy and the stimulation of exports of technological products and up-to-date services to attract foreign capital in the framework of national economic policy, boosting of efficiency of the use of international support.
The objectives of the strategy include improving the quality of the National Bank's policy, the confidence in the regulator, the banking system and the national currency, developing a competitive banking service market and stimulating lending to the real sector of economy.
On May 19-20, the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman hosts an all-Ukrainian scientific practical forum aimed at the discussion of the draft Strategy.
