On Tuesday First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Heraschenko held a solemn ceremony in the Parliament of handing out awards to Ukrainian servicewomen.

The servicewomen received honorary certificates of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for valuable personal contribution into the protection of the interests of the Motherland, dedication and steadfastness demonstrated during the military service, brilliant performance of military duty, high professionalism during execution of specific tasks in the course of the anti-terrorist operation, and on the occasion of the Mother's Day.

"We are happy that today we have an honor to present these certificates to women who protect Ukraine's territorial integrity and its sovereignty. Ukrainian women are courageous, beautiful, modest and extraordinary. We are grateful to you, and for us it is an honor to welcome you in the Parliament," said I.Heraschenko, addressing the servicewomen.

The politician said that from her experience she knows "how difficult is to live and do military service in the ATO zone" because she often visits this territory with business trips. "You are worthy, you are wonderful and we are grateful to you for this," I.Heraschenko said. She wished the servicewomen "private happiness, healthy children, and that their children be proud of their mothers, and that we all join our efforts to serve Ukraine."

At the end of the ceremony First Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament I.Heraschenko presented the opening of the photo exhibition "Mothers on the front line and in the rear," organized at the initiative of inter-factional parliamentary association Equal Opportunities and the UN Women Program. The exhibition, according to I.Heraschenko, aims to depict women serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and mothers of servicemen. The politician invited the servicewomen to open the photo exhibition.
