At its meeting the Committee on Family Matters, Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism decided to recommend that the Parliament approve as a basis draft law "On amendments to certain legislative acts concerning provision of guarantees for increasing sportsmanship of the youth" No.4186, submitted by MPs Pysarenko V.V. and Ischenko V.O.
The draft law proposes to amend the laws of Ukraine "On physical culture and sports," "On higher education" and "On vocational education," having envisaged guarantees for increasing sportsmanship of the youth in the form of exemption from lessons (full-time education) for the preparation and participation in all-Ukrainian and international sports competitions and creation of opportunities for studying (if necessary) under the individual education plans and schedules for students (cadets), pupils (attendees) of full-time vocational schools, participating in all-Ukrainian and international sports competitions.
During the consideration of the draft law, the Committee members supported the proposal to approve the draft law as a basis, as it will provide young athletes with guarantees for exemption from classes for improving the sportsmanship.
However, they made a number of proposals and remarks to the draft law, which the Committee intends to consider during the preparation for the second reading. In particular, concerning the procedure of exemption from classes of pupils of secondary schools participating in all-Ukrainian and international sports competitions, as the youngest and the average age of participants in sports competitions is the school age of 10-14 years.
Given the above and the remarks and proposals of the meeting participants, the Committee proposes to approve the document as a basis, and during the preparation for the second reading to take into account all constructive proposals made at the Committee meeting.
