Today, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations Hryhorii Nemyria called on the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to provide the Ukrainian Parliament with the report on implementation of the recommendations of the parliamentary hearings touching the protection of rights and freedoms of internally displaced persons.

In particular, he said that before June 1, 2016, the Government will have to present the said report.

Besides, the Chairperson of the Committee reminded that so far the law on protection of rights and freedoms of internally displaced persons has been in effect for four months, however, "unfortunately none regulatory-legal act of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has been brought in line with this law over the said period." He expressed hope that the situation would be improved at the earliest possible time.

Reference information: On February 17, 2016, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations held parliamentary hearings entitled "State of observance of rights of internally displaced persons and Ukrainian citizens living on temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and Ukraine-uncontrolled territory in antiterrorist operation zone."

On March 31, through Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Recommendations of the hearings. Respective document contains 74 proposals to the President of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Verkhovna Rada Committees, Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, ministries and agencies of Ukraine, National Bank of Ukraine and local self-government bodies touching the improvement of the legislative and practical assistance for internally displaced persons.
