In the course of the event, chaired by Viktor Halasiuk, it was reported that due to the appointment of a number of members of the delegation, including its former head Oleksandr Semerak to ministerial posts, and on the basis of statements of some deputies, the composition of the delegation has changed. Therefore, it was decided that the new co-Chairperson of the Committee will be selected after all factions delegate their representatives to replace those who quitted it.
V.Halasiuk said that on April 25-26 Brussels will host third meeting of the European Union-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee. Temporarily the delegation will be headed by First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Heraschenko.
In the framework of preparation for the visit to Brussels, MPs listened to the information of government officials. Thus, Deputy Director of the EU department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Volodymyr Yermakov reported on topical issues on the agenda of EU-Ukraine relations, including the completion of the ratification of the Association Agreement, the prospects for visa-free travel, etc. Olena Shaloput, Deputy Director of the department for counteracting Russia’s threat at the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine, informed on the progress of the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources also informed the present on the cooperation with the EU in the energy sector and participation in the events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Chornobyl tragedy.
Deputy Justice Minister on European Integration Serhii Petukhov reported on constitutional reform in the part of judicial reform, decentralization of power, the electoral system, measures to combat corruption within the competence of the Ministry.
Director of the department of international cooperation and European integration at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Olena Belbekova spoke about the progress in practical implementation of a deep and comprehensive free trade area between Ukraine and the EU.
Director of the Government Office for European Integration Natalia Hnydiuk delivered her report on the progress of the implementation of the Association Agreement, and harmonization of Ukraine's legislation with the EU law.
Deputy Director of the legal department of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service Andrii Astapov provided information on public administration reform. Representative of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Serhii Koziakov reported on the situation in the qualification of judges.
