The meeting with a delegation of international experts on the matters of internally displaced persons was held today.
The sides discussed the situation in Ukraine concerning the protection of rights and freedoms of internally displaced persons and legislative protection of their rights.
In this connection Hryhorii Nemyria informed the experts on the recommendations of the parliamentary hearings entitled "Situation with the protection of the rights of internally displaced persons and citizens of Ukraine residing in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and in the temporarily uncontrolled territory in the ??antiterrorist operation zone," adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on March 31, 2016.
"The most important is to elaborate a strategy and state policy on internal migrants, which is still absent in Ukraine. It is our duty to protect the rights and freedoms of these people. IDPs should become a driving force behind the reformation of our country, but not a problem, as they the government of Yatsenyuk called them," he said.
The experts thanked the Committee for such initiative and emphasized on the importance of immediate implementation of the recommendations.
The delegation is formed of its Chairperson Zdenek Belonoznik, and members Erin Mooney, Ziba Guliyeva and Norbert Rafalik.
