Members of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budget on April 18 met with representatives of the Technical Mission of the International Monetary Fund’s Fiscal Affairs Department, which is currently in Ukraine in order to evaluate the public investment management.
At the meeting the Ukrainian part was represented by Chairperson of the Committee Andrii Pavelko, First Deputy Chairperson Vasyl Amelchenko, Chairpersons of Committee’s Subcommittees Oleksandr Horbunov, Kostiantyn Ischeikin, and Ivan Kulichenko.
The other part was represented by IMF Technical Mission Head Brian Alden, IMF economists Yugo Koshima, Miguel Alves, Eivind Tandberg and Ulrike Ruyida, and senior economist of the IMF Representative Office in Ukraine Ihor Shpak.
People's deputies of Ukraine and representatives of the IMF mission discussed the matter of increasing the efficiency of selection of public investment projects, for the elaboration and implementation of which the law on the state budget envisages the corresponding funds, and distributing the State Regional Development Fund’s resources, and also the issue of productiveness of the use of state budget expenditures for these purposes.
Summarizing the meeting, Committee Chairperson Andrii Pavelko asked the members of the IMF technical mission to provide the Committee on Budget with its conclusions and recommendations for taking them into account during the consideration of the said issues in the future.
