At the beginning of the morning plenary meeting on Tuesday, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii stated that the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation has declared the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people an extremist organization, which requires appropriate response of international organizations.

"The people, our Crimean Tatar brothers, have been announced an extremist organization. For the first time after the epoch of Stalin and Hitler, these people were declared extremists. That is a manifestation of Russia's fascism: on May 18, 1944, Stalin signed a criminal directive that led to a horrible tragedy of Crimean Tatars," he said. At the same time, on April 18, 2016, the Russian totalitarian authorities ban the Mejlis again. "These actions of Russia again prove its nickname of 'the prisons of peoples.' The Crimean Tatars do not have any other motherland but Ukraine, but Crimea. Our task is to do out best to free our lands from the occupants and our Crimean Tatar brothers," Parubii said.

On behalf of the Ukrainian Parliament, the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada addressed international organizations requesting to give appropriate response to that crime.
